How to Conform Text on surface in Photoshop
In this tutorial, I am going to show you how I created Text on the surface using a displacement map in photoshop.
This is a very easy and useful technique. You only need a blanket image which I have downloaded from Unsplash . com.
After watching this tutorial you will be able to create your own text on surface effect in Photoshop. The final results are amazing.
This is 100% editable and looks so realistic with text on a surface in photoshop. We are going to create this effect from the scratch. If you are watching my video, I recommend you to watch it till the end.
Here’s the effect we’re going to create.
Let’s get started!
Step 1: Open Adobe Photoshop, then import the blanket image. Go to the Filter menu, then Blur, and choose the Gaussian blur. Change the blur radius to 2.5 pixels.
Step 2: Select the Background image layer, Go to the effects and choose Hue/Saturation. Now, change the saturation to -100.
Step 3: Go to the File, and choose Save As. And rename it to Displacement.PSD. Then Close the window.
Step 4: Open the blanket text image in Photoshop.
Step 5: Create a new layer, then rename it to TEXT OR LOGO. Then convert it to a smart object. Double-click the smart object layer to go inside. And Add type your text. Increase the font size, then align your text to the center. Then go to the File, and click Save.
Step 6: Go back to the Blanket image tab. Select the Text layer, go to the Filter, then Distort and select Displace. And change the Horizontal and Vertical scale to 10. Then click ok.
Step 7: Select the Displacement .PSD file which we made earlier. Select the Text layer, go to blending options and change some settings.
Bevel & Emboss Setting:
Change the style to Emboss, Depth to 10%, Direction to down, size to 4px, and soften to 4px. Change the highlight mode to Linear Dodge (Add). Change the opacity to 100%.
Set the Shadow mode to Linear Burn.
Color overlay:
Change any color you want. Blend mode to multiply.
Step 8: Select the text layer, and change the Fill from 100% to 0%.
Then we are done. Our Text on surface effect is ready.
